A somber experience. The history and information speaks for itself. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Beautiful location. Free to enter the monument, only have to pay for the museum. Staff very helpful. Toilet in the gift shop. Disability friendly.
Monument is a short walk from the museum. Give it at least an hour to appreciate the scale.
A butiful place to visite, we didn't go into the museum, we just went to the monument, and looked at the names on the walls took a lot of photos and spent some time to respect
Excellent, recreating the horror of the Somme, as much as possible .The monument is inscribed with ball the names of the MIA.....no bodies where found.
Great informative museum, well worth a visit
Monument is free, museum costs money (didn't get to see museum). Monument is beautiful, absolutely gigantic and there are thousands if not tens of thousands of names on it. Toilets and vending machines (basic snacks and soft drinks) in gift shop area. Gift shop is very expensive but that's expected.
We went to visit the Thiepval Museum & War Memorial To The Fallen At The Battle of The Somme. As my Great Uncle Berttie was Lost In Action, he has no Grave but his name is carved into the wall of the Thiepval Monument along with all the names of the men who lost their lives as a Tribute to them. All I need to say is that the facts & images in the museum, & the size of the monument, which is covered in the names of the dead brings home the vast scale of the death & suffering of so many people. Everyone should go there in the hope that it brings home the fact that this should never happen again.
Lest We Forget.
Beautiful place to remember the soldiers who died at the battle of the Somme even the ones who have never been found. Really humbled by this place. Glad to see it looked after by staff RIP All The Soldiers who gave there lives in the Battle Somme. Never forgotten
